In honor of the 50th anniversary of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Law– radical legislation which protects areas of cultural and historic importance –the New York School of Interior Design is presenting the exhibition”Rescued, Restored, Reimagined: New York’s Landmark Interiors.” Of the over 31,000 landmarks protected under the legislation, just 117 are insides. The exhibition highlights the value of keeping these spaces and appears toward identifying the next generation of landmarks.

Ms. Moss endowed this scholarship in 2003 to encourage the instruction of pupils in an undergraduate degree program with a fire to become a part of the interior design profession.

LAVERNE NEIL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

LaVerne Neil was a NYSID alumna who graciously Dedicated elements of her estate to make this endowed scholarship fund. Ms. Neil was correlated with a few of the 20th century’s most prominent furniture and décor companies and has been a International Furnishings and Design Association president. To be eligible, a recipient should be a fulltime junior or senior from the BFA program.

ELIZABETH NESBITT SHEAN SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has been endowed by Michael Meehan Nesbitt and his family in memory of his sister, a NYSID alumna. It’s given to a full-time pupil entering the Fundamental Interior Design application.

CARL A. SCHWARZ, JR.. SCHOLARSHIP

Carl A. Schwarz, Jr., served as Chairman about the Board of Trustees in the New York School of Interior Design from 1990 till 2002. Before serving in the functions of chairman after which citizenship, he had been general counsel to the school for seven decades. The scholarship is given to a unique undergraduate student in their third or fourth year of research.

SHERRILL WHITON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Sherrill Whiton was an architect who set the New York School of Interior Design at 1916. He was the writer of Interior Design and Decoration, a classic text to layout students that was Composed in 1937 and is still employed now. He served as the Manager of this School before his departure in 1961. This endowed scholarship affirms the education of a student in an undergraduate degree program who shows exceptional Promise in interior layout.
